Aluminium Framed Windows With a “Steel Look” Finish.

There are many different styles and configurations of steel-look windows available, ranging from a tilt-and-turn system to a regular casement window. At IQ, bespoke glass may be designed with virtually no restrictions.

For projects involving listed and historic buildings, or for those aiming for a more conventional or industrial type design, aluminium steel appearance windows are frequently specified.

Since every one of our glazing systems is made to order, we are able to combine different glazing bar designs with a variety of framing profiles, each with a choice of frame finishing options. This makes it possible to design industrial, art deco, or more conventional glazing designs for the steel appearance glazing systems. This implies that the systems can be made to either stand out and become a unique architectural element, or they can be designed to blend in with the surrounding glass already in place.

Why Choose Steel Look Windows?

When deciding on your ideal glazing system, fully steel systems may seem like the ideal fit for a more “rough around the edges” look. This effect looks great but can incur addition costs due to the intensive craftsmanship needed to work with steel. With an aluminium system, you still gain incredible thermal performance with lower prices due to the lower manufacturing costs. The steel look finish will allow for money to be placed elsewhere in the project to “upgrade” other glazing systems.

The retro style of steel look windows is perfect for retrofit projects or listed buildings that still retain a classical appearance. Employing aluminium also means that maintenance is lower, with an aluminium system rust is not a worry and wrapping is almost impossible. In marine environments, steel may rust away faster due to the natural saltwater content in the air. With marine grade coating on an aluminium frame a higher saltwater content will not be an issue.

Performance

As all of our external glazing systems use a full polyamide thermal break and come with a low e glass coating as standard, our aluminium steel look glazing achieves unparalleled performance levels.

Our systems use a mix of true and applied glazing bars to achieve optimal performance levels without having to compromise on design.

Each system is manufactured bespoke and will come with its own Uw and weather testing values, so for more specific details, get in touch with the IQ team today.

Frame Finish & Glazing Options

One huge advantage of using aluminium framing profiles is the wide variety of finishing options available for the framing. Our profiles can be finished with a polyester powder coating in any RAL colour, and with over 200 colours to choose from plus options such as matt or glossy, the options are endless.

Utilising PPC and grooves, special finishes such as a timber effect design can be achieved. Another less common frame finish for aluminium is anodising.

Our aluminium steel look glazing system can also be specified with a wide range of glazing options including, but not limited to, low maintenance, solar control and low iron glazing.

This allows each system to be manufactured to suit specific design requirements, both performance-wise and in terms of aesthetics.
