Ultra Tall Bifolding doors provide light to Renovated Stone Barn

A four bedroom barn in Somerset underwent complete renovation transforming a dark, but well appointed old barn set in the rolling hills just outside Bath, into a family home fit for modern day living with ultra tall bifolding doors.

Ennox Farm was listed by Estate Agents Savills with a development opportunity for a full barn conversion in Somerset, described as one of Somerset’s best-kept secret locations.

The barn had no mains infrastructure, gas or drainage access, so significant investment would be needed to create a functional farmyard family home. Part of this investment was the specification of glazing elements that would bring the building into the 21^st century providing much needed natural light and exceptional thermal values.

Our luxe ultra tall bifolding doors were chosen for the project due to the impressive height of just under 4m tall (3.87m to be exact) maintaining a slim profile frames of 74mm, the slimmest bifolding doors available on the market.

These ultra tall bifolding doors allowed for the gable end of the barnyard to be a natural lightwell, while providing seamless access to the exterior of the building.

The ultra tall bifolding doors were specified to be exactly 3300mm x 3870mm and are three panels wide with a pass door. The bifolds were powder coated in RAL 7039 which is a slightly lighter grey than the standard RAL 7016 colour. The windload was confirmed at 0.70 Kn/m2 which was more than required to deal with any wind loads that the ultra tall bifolding doors had to withstand.
