IQ Glass supplied an extensive glazing package to fulfil client’s brief of a light filled Structural glass link extension to the home in Hull

Architects, Morgan Lloyd Jones was commissioned to create a contemporary rear extension and internal remodelling with a Structural glass link, floor to ceiling slim framed sliding doors, structural rooflights and casement windows merging the traditional with the modern, totally transforming the dark 1950’s lower ground floor to an inviting flexible space with an abundance of natural light flooding through.

At the side of the detached dwelling, a structural casement window was installed to increase the sense of space and improve natural light ingress within the central most deepest part of the property.

The structural glass link offered the perfect to solution as to not cast in shadow other areas of the ground floor.

Our slim framed sliding doors installed to the rear elevation with our A.R.E.S. (Automated Rising Electric Rooflight) provide adequate ventilation when required, as well as preventing solar gain with its solar control glass.

In addition to the ventilative cooling provided by the A.R.E.S. rooflight and the solar coating glazing, the design of the overhanging roof enabled further reduces direct exposure from the sun.

The overhang style of the roof complements the steel glazed framed glass link extension delivering an impressive visually pleasring impact.

The result is an open plan modern glazed extension which exceeded the clients’ expectations breathing new life into a well-loved family home.
