The 6m tall sliding elevations ensured that the internal space is flooded with natural light throughout the day, while the addition of solar control glass and low-E coatings ensures that excess infra-red radiation is deflected back into the outside atmosphere, preventing the internal space from overheating.
The two sets of sliding doors were designed to slide back in opposing directions, creating a dramatic corner-opening design that allows the homeowners to enjoy a truly integrated indoor-outdoor living lifestyle. Designed with a completely flush threshold, the oversized glass façade can be smoothly and effortlessly slid back with the aid of a powerful motor.
Above the extension, frameless glazed balustrades were used to create a large balcony space, accessed from the master bedroom via a set of timber casement doors. The balustrades were specified with low iron, toughened structural glass, to provide an effortlessly minimal balcony that ensures the safety of the homeowners at all times.
