A substantial glass extension was added to this family home in Henley-on-Thames using minimally framed sliding glass doors from IQ to create a minimal, light-filled open plan living space.

The new extension added a contemporary lounge area and dining room connected with a double sided fireplace in the middle. The large detached house features a large glass elevation of slim framed sliding glass doors as the key focal point to the contemporary extension.
The three pane sliding glass door system only has a 21mm vertical frame with a frameless finished surround, perfect for taking advantage of those views. When the doors are slid open the floor finishes are flush inside to outside, with all necessary drainage cleverly hidden in the base tracks and drainage blocks below.
The minimally framed sliding doors join almost seamlessly with the glazed structural roof creating a cohesive and minimal design aesthetic to the contemporary extension. Frameless structural glazing has also been paired with IQ’s slim frame sliding glass doors for the ultimate architectural design.
The slim framed sliding glass doors provide the primary access to the garden and patio area. This type of minimally framed sliding door helps merge the internal and external living areas when the doors are both open and closed.
The slim aluminium framing maximises the light entering the living spaces whilst taking advantage of the surrounding gardens. All of the aluminium framings have been powder coated in a dark grey RAL 7016 contrasting effectively with the cream rendered walls.
