e-architect has written a case study write up of one of our completed projects, Claywood House. The family home was designed to meet the requirements of the wheelchair user homeowner, with flush thresholds allowing her to move around the home independently.
Large slim framed sliding doors were incorporated into the rear elevation, connecting the internal living space with the expansive garden. The sliding glass doors were complete with a flush threshold detail, allowing step-free travel between the two environments. A combination of double and triple glazed sliding doors were utilised to achieve specific project requirements.
Large elevations of frameless structural glass were used throughout the home to create frameless picture windows, flooding the interior design with natural light throughout the day whilst maintaining a minimal architectural design. The glazing systems were fully thermally broken to enhance the performance of the wider building envelope, enhancing the low carbon status by saving on heating and cooling costs.
