Structural glass walls create contemporary guest house

This guesthouse in Herefordshire utilised structural glazing to create a highly glazed, contemporary design. The floor to ceiling glazing allows the rural views to be enjoyed from within the living space, all year round.

Invisio structural glass walls deliver the most minimal finish, with hidden fixing details and only neat silicone joints visible between the oversized panes. In this instance, the client wanted a completely flush finish with the slim framed aluminium casement doors, both inside and out.

Using our Invisio structural glazing system, we were able to adapt the solution to engineer a specialised solution that met the brief and resulted in a flush glazing finish.

Due to the requirements for flush glazing, the double-glazed units were specified with a 64mm argon gas cavity, creating glass walls in the same width as the door to create a seamless finish both inside and out.

The glass around the slim framed casement doors, which were specified with fixed top lights, was backpainted. IQ use backpainted glass for a decorative finish and to conceal any fixing details for a completely clean installation. The flush, backpainted glass allowed the door to merge into the surrounding structural glazing for a minimalist theme.

From the inside, the glass to glass corner connections allows floods of natural light to enter the space and for uninterrupted views to be maintained in every corner. The frameless structural glazing frames the picturesque views and is perfect for creating an indoor-outdoor style of living.

Thanks to the thermally broken properties of the Invisio structural glazing system, the fully glazed guest house is a comfortable temperature all year round for visitors. The minimal design of the oversized glazing systems forge a strong connection between indoor and outdoor areas, perfect for enjoying the countryside.
