To enhance the contemporary exterior cladding even further, our thermally broken, frameless glass system was specified in an oversized configuration. The frameless structural glazing was cut to a completely bespoke shape and split into two panels to fill a gable end structure on one elevation of the extension.
The team of installers went to site and fitted the Invisio channel first, before taking glass measurements to ensure the structural glass was the perfect fit for the unusual shape. The structural glass was then installed on a separate visit, where IQ overcame challenges, which included getting our glass lifting equipment through a set of automated gates.
Inside the contemporary extension, a frameless glass fin was used to support the large glass structure without disrupting the fully glazed, transparent design. Frameless picture windows were used alongside the oversized gable end glass to frame the Malvern Hills, which can be seen from the new open plan kitchen and dining room. The key advantage to using structural glazing is the flexibility in design, allowing us to create completely bespoke shaped windows to perfectly fit the spaces.
A large frameless rooflight was used above the dining room table, flooding the space with light throughout the day from all angles. On the side of the extension, slim framed sliding door systems were specified in a 2 pane configuration.
The oversized sliding panes have exceptionally slim sightlines from just 21mm, granting uninterrupted views of the surrounding environment from within the home. The premium sliding door systems are engineered with a completely flush threshold for seamless travel between indoors and outdoors, perfect for an indoor-outdoor style of living.
Aluminium framed casement windows were used throughout the living area, in keeping with the minimal interior and exterior design. The placement of the windows and doors creates through views, straight through the extension, to ensure the surrounding rural views can be enjoyed from every angle.
