IQ's low carbon home project, Claywood House, was recently featured in issue 56 of Design Buy Build magazine. The five-bedroom new build family home has many innovative and sustainable elements including a ground source heat pump, MHRV and 12kw photovoltaics.
The three-page spread in the latest issue looks at how the specialist glazing from IQ Glass helped to enhance the build and aid in creating a low-carbon family home with a minimal carbon footprint.
Sustainable glazing solutions such as triple glazed sliding glass doors from minimal windows® were used. Triple glazing is extremely thermally efficient, helping to reduce the energy needed to heat the home throughout the year.
minimal windows® glazing profiles are made from 70% recycled aluminium, meaning the manufacturing of the system has less of an impact on the environment. All framing also utilises modern thermal break technology, again helping to create a thermally efficient building envelope.
The stunning images alongside the article showcase how the modern architectural glazing solutions enhance the exterior design, working in harmony with the bespoke timber cladding which was used to mimic the surrounding trees.
