Claywood House, a sustainable new build home with a bespoke glazing package from IQ, was recently featured in the RIBA Journal.
The PiP (Product in Practice) article ‘Past, present and future applications for doors, windows and ironmongery’ highlights the eco-friendly home and the slim framed and frameless glazing designed, supplied, and installed by IQ Glass.
Glazing on the project includes frameless picture windows, steel fire rated glass doors and slim sliding doors, chosen for their completely flush threshold for one of the homeowners who is a wheelchair user.
Other wheelchair-friendly elements of the home include a lowered sink and elevated washer and dryer, ensuring every part of the home is accessible and usable for all occupants.
Technical glazing solutions such as heated glass and marine grade glazing were also used at various points around the home to enhance the modern, sustainable home design.
Utilising a ground source heat pump, a 12kw photovoltaic array and a mechanical heat recovery ventilation system, this low-carbon home showcases exactly how a new home should be built, with the future in mind.
