A 'double whammy' for Lea Bridge Library, by Studio Weave with two AJ Architecture Awards for 2023. 

Lea Bridge Library’s exemplary award-winning architecture features floor to ceiling slim framed sliding glass doors and a curved glass facade to this 250m2 timber extension of a Grade II listed library in the Borough of Waltham Forest.  

Lea Bridge Library scooped Editors Choice Award. The light filled timber and glazed extension engages well with its context, creating an inclusive hub for the wider community. Reclaimed timber and the curved glass facade emulates the softness of nature, a perfect space to draw inspiration, learn, reflect or socialise. 

The award-winning architecture of Lea Bridge Library wins the AJ Architecture Civic Project Award. Hailed a ‘clear winner’ of the Civic Project category, the extension to this Edwardian building was considered by judges as ‘almost flawless’ architecture. The footprint of the new space is not vast however, clever design breaks up the space, and the use of ultra slim framed sliding glass doors and the curved glass wall enhances the sense of space whilst creating a welcoming ambiance.
